An Interview with a Dolphin Trainer

Tommy Im has one of the best jobs in the world – or at least he thinks so! He’s a dolphin trainer at Ocean Park. Find out more about Tommy and his fascinating job in the interview below.

How did you become a dolphin trainer?
I saw an advertisement in the newspaper. I thought it sounded like an unusual job so I applied. I worked on it for five years.

What does a dolphin trainer actually do?
Well, one obvious answer is train dolphin. However, we spend less time doing this than people think. It uses only one hour everyday. It is enough for us to train them. Our main responsibility is to look after the dolphins and to make sure that they are happy and healthy. For example, the first thing I do every morning is to check their temperature. I also spend a lot of time feeding the dolphins, playing with them and cleaning the tanks. The dolphins are too active. They like to play with us any time. It is difficult to clean the tanks when they want to play with me.

How do you train a dolphin?
One of the first tricks we teach the dolphins is to touch a hand with their noses. You can see my hand in this photo too. They also learn other simple tricks such as shaking hands, singing and dancing. It takes time to learn tricks so the younger dolphins generally know fewer tricks than the older ones.

Would you recommend this job to other people?
Yes, definitely. It’s hard work but very rewarding.

Reflection of Fuk Lam Church

Our School held a reading activity day on 25th April,2008. In the afternoon on that day, we went to Fuk Lam Church. We watched a video about YMT and Temple Street. Then, we talked with the teachers in group. It made me relaxed. Finally, we sang together. I like this activity because I can learn more about the God.

I love China!

Today, I saw a interesting post in a forum. It was about the olympic in Beijing in 2008. The post said that many people didn't like China. They thought China is dirty and foolish. The author told us to add (L)CHINA in front of our MSN name to support China. And it will become a heart!

Geography project

Last week, we were busy with the Geography project because we should submit it on time. I think the time are not enough for us to do. We choose the topic about Tsim Sha Tsui. We walked in Tsim Sha Tsui in 15 minutes. At the same time, we took some photos and drew the map on the way.

I think it can implove us to learn more. I will study hard when I can get money.

Reading

Reading is very important for us to learn. We can learn some new vocabularies, grammars, perpositions and sentence structures from reading. We can read in our spare time. Therefore, reading is a great activitie!

November Rain

Exposition
At the rainbow bar, many people were talking, smoking and kissing. Axl met Stephanie in the bar. They loved each other very much. Suddenly, an woman came in the bar and hit Stephanie.

Rising action
Axl and Stephanie struggle for a gun because Stephanie wanted to killed the woman, but Axl didn't. Axl tried to stop Stephanie since Axl loved that woman before. He didn't want to hurt the woman. Stephanie calm down and Axl suggested to marry Stephanie. Stephanie was happy and forgot the things about the woman. Slash loved Stephanie, too. He knew that the woman made Stephanie sad. Therefore, he decided to kill the woman. Slash drove car with her over a cliff. He jumped out the car before the car crashed. He killed the woman!

Climax
Axl and Stephanie married in the church. Axl didn't find the ring! Slash gave him a ring. Then, they went to the wedding party. Axl knew that Stephanie still loved Slash, so he hated Slash very much. The guests enjoyed the party. Suddenly, the rain fell down. The guests were confused. Axl wanted to kill Slash in this chance. He took out the gun and shot to Slash. But he quaked and killed Stephanie carelessly.

Falling Action Axl was very upset after Stephanie dead. He needed some psyche assistance. The instructor helped him and Axl needed to take some medicines before slept.

Resolution
Axl still though of Stephanie's dead with the psyche assistance. He can't forgive himself and killed himself near Stephanie's grave.

A theme of my story

I will write a story about trust. I think it is very important in our life. We need to trust the other so that we could make friends. If we don't trust our friends, we will get some problems. We may lost them, too!

Prejudice

I think a theme of the story 'The Ugly Duckling' can be use 'prejudice'. The ugly duckling didn't look like with the other ducklings. The ducklings didn't like the ugly duckling becauce it looked uglier than the other ducklings. They also didn't play with the ugly duckling. So that 'prejudice' is a big problem of the ugly duckling.
